Little Ship Cottage, The Cove, Coverack, Cornwall.

Little Ship Cottage.JPG

Little Ship Cottage (sleeps 4 and a cot), is located in the heart of the beautiful and unspoilt fishing and sailing village of Coverack, on The Lizard Peninsula, in Cornwall. Coverack is regarded by many as one of the most sought after villages on The Lizard Peninsula. It’s architectural and geographical beauty coupled with its sheer tranquillity make this an ideal holiday destination. The village, which has a famous history of smuggling, has small shops within easy walking distance, a pub, cafes and two restaurants. Coverack beach & bay (see photograph below taken from the cottage front door) is ideal for families, and again is within easy walking distance of Little Ship Cottage. The beach is sandy with some rock outcrops which makes exploring the rock pools an exciting pastime. For walking enthusiasts the area offers superb opportunities for exploring the beautiful and varied coastal scenery of The Lizard Peninsula. This pretty, two bed roomed former Bible Christian Chapel boasts panoramic sea and village views and a well kept walled front garden. The cottage sleeps 4 and a cot. Sorry, we have a strict no smoking and no pets policy in our cottages. All guests will receive a complimentary welcome pack including tea, coffee, milk and essential holiday items such as Cornish clotted cream, strawberry jam and scones!

Little Ship Cottage retains many of its original features including beamed ceilings and thick cob walls. These features have been sympathetically enhanced during the renovation. All beams and doors throughout the cottage have been stripped back and waxed. The kitchen feautures white farmhouse style units, a Belfast porcelain sink and real granite worktops centres around a traditional farmhouse dining table and antique chapel pew. The utility room to the rear of the cottage has been re-built and features a sky-light window and down stairs toilet. All appliances have been purchased new including hob oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine/tumble dryer. The low casement window features a built-in cushioned window seat to maximise the bay & village views. Colour schemes for the kitchen/dining area are white and stylishly colourful! Previously covered walls have been exposed to reveal their original cob and stone construction.

The Lounge features a 26" LCD Digital TV and DVD. Two, two seater sofas are centred round a rug and the contemporary wood burning stove. A side table with lamp gives a warm lighting effect in the evening, in addition to stylish wall mounted lights. The sash window features a cushioned window seat. The colour scheme is mocca, beige and warm reds. Our ideal has been to mix contemporary with traditional in this room.

The lounge at Little Ship features a contemporary wood burning stove.

Upstairs, the master bedroom at Little Ship Cottage features a king-size antique style bed with side tables and bedside lamps. Good storage takes the form of a built-in wardrobe and chest of drawers. Village and bay views can be seen from the front facing sashed window which will features a Roman blind. A second window to the side of the cottage features full length curtains and a pelmet rail. The overall design feel is antique French using raspberrry and cream Joie de vivre fabrics.

The second bedroom at Little Ship Cottage again has pretty Coverack bay views from two front facing sashed windows. We have knocked two bedrooms together to make this a much larger second bedroom. It contains two single antique style white wrought iron beds. Good storage takes the form of a built-in wardrobe and a 4 drawer chest. This room has a nautical / New England theme.

The second bedroom at Little Ship Cottage has a New England theme, bay views and twin beds.

Also upstairs, Little Ship Cottage has a combined toilet and bathroom. Again, we have successfully mixed traditional with a stylish contemporary twist. A modern white bath with chrome fittings features a wall mounted shower above. The toilet and sink are modern in design. Floors and walls feature beige limestone and modern glass tiles. Halogen ceiling spot lights and a wall mounted towel rail are also featured. Heating throughout the cottage takes the form of wall mounted night-storage heaters in addition to the wood burning stove in the lounge. To the front of Little Ship Cottage, there is a delightful cottage garden which directly overlooks Coverack bay. A bar-be-q, and garden furniture table and chairs are provided. Little Ship Cottage has parking just outside the cottage most of the year but is restricted between the hours of 10am – 6pm from June 1st to August 31st. Nearby car parks at either end of the village can be used at these times.

Little Ship Cottage is available holiday rental throughout the year. Out of season short breaks are accepted.

Guest Feedback

The Parker family from Sheffield. Staying at Little Ship 3rd - 13th April 2008

'The Little Ship'. What can we say about her maiden voyage....It was just so memorable....she's been fitted out as good as an ocean liner. Thank you again for working your magic on this cottage. You've given us a perfect week, even the weather has been better than we expected. The views are wonderful from every window. Thank you again and see you again.

Mark,Julia, Jess & Miles from Somerset. Staying at Little Ship 13th - 20th April 2008

This was our thirs visit to Coverack, second visit to Lizard Peninsula Holiday Cottages. The cottage was everything we expected and more. We really enjoyed the wood burning stove. The charm of Coverack and its people continues to grow on us, I'm sure it wont be too long before we are back again. Thank you for a great holiday.

Pete, Laura & William (9 months) from Bath. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 20th - 27th April 2008

This was our fourth consecutive visit to Coverack, the previous three having been spent next door but one at Minstrel Cottage, but the first one with the little fellow (William). As you might expect this does have an effect on the itinery - a lot fewer hikes along the coast during the day and drinking sessions in pubs at night. However, there are consolations, chief amongst them being a trip to The National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek (just down the road). The work done there is admirable, the seals themselves adorable and the setting quiet stunning. The views from the cottage and garden are quiet beautiful and we look forward to returning next year.

The Day family from Evesham & Birmingham. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 27th April - 4th May 2008.

Little Ship Cottage was a delight to stay in. A lovely comfortable "haven" in a beautiful setting. Alison has obviously put a great deal of thought and planning into the decor & equipment and I feel sure has had a great deal of fun fitting out the cottage. I am sure we will visit again. Elizabeth's pasties voted best on The Lizard.

Anne & Steve from Wiltshire & mum from Newquay (who stayed for 2 nights). Staying at Little Ship Cottage 11th - 18th May 2008

This has been our first stay in Coverack and will not be our last. We love Little Ship Cottage. Its wonderful to lay in bed and watch the sea. The decor and general standard of the cottage is superb. We have done alot of travelling around The Lizard while we've been here but are always glad to get back to our "Little Ship". It was lovely touch to have a cream tea organised for us on arrival and we have had many of Elizabeth's pasties, which are the best. Look forward to coming again next year. Bye for now.

Doreen, Hugh, Joshua & Ashleigh from London. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 25th May - 1st June 2008

What a super cottage......everything and more.....the view was simply magical and I for one could not get enough of it. Coverack did not fail to deliver and was just as I had remembered it...beautiful. The weather has been kind with some HOT days. The decor is superb, tastefully decorated...I'm sure all who come to stay will agree. I do hope my family and I will come and stay once again. Many thanks.

Jenny & Michael Cody from N.J, USA. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 2nd - 7th June 2008

A wonderful cottage - everything was perfect. The view was wonderful and to go to sleep listening to the water was very relaxing. Little Ship is the third cottage I have rented in the UK, by far this one the best. Coverack is perfect - shop, pub and cafe!

S & G Hawker from South Wales. Staying at Little Ship Cottage - 29th June - 6th July 2008

Great location, had a good week, found a new good place to eat 'South Cafe' Manaccan, we'll be back.

The Lewis family from Hammersmith. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 13th - 20th July 2008

When it's sunny nowhere can beat Coverack and we have had a wonderful sunny week. Seal sanctuary - fab, Praa Sands perfect for teaching the boys to surf. Boat trip on Helford and much more. Elizabeth's pasties for lunch every day. A beautiful cottage in a perfect location.

Paul, Candy & family from Oxfordshire. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 20th - 27th July 2008

With fantastic waether & such a lovely setting, we couldn't fail to have a super holiday. We discovered different beaches most days. Don't miss Kynance Cove, it's stunning. The cottage is delightful and beautifully presented. Thank you for making our stay so pleasant.

Clare, Andy, Charlotte & Fred from Tunbridge Wells. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 27th July - 10th August 2008

Having seen the "before" Little Ship, we eagerly awaited our holiday to see how Alison had worked her magic on the "after". We were certainly not disappointed - it has been restored absolutely beautifully! We found Little Ship to be a lovely, light and luxurious cottage. We have visited Coverack many times and the weather wasn't great this year but staying here it didn't seem to matter so much! We watched dolphins in the bay from our lovely cottage windows. Thank you for a lovely, restful holiday. We will be back soon.

The Hudson family from Woburn Sands in Buckinghamshire. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 10th - 24th August 2008

Yet another wonderful visit to Coverack with the usual mixed Cornish weather!! Lovely cottage, beautifully done and very comfortable. Dolphins still appearing in the bay, great to sit in the garden and watch them. Back again soon! Coverack is my favourit place by the beach and its really fun harbor jumping.

The Curry family from Oxfordshire. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 24 - 31st August 2008

We have enjoyed Coverack again - not much sun but no rain - for this year thats great. We all loved 'Little Ship' and hope to return soon. Can highly recommend New Yard Restaurant at Trelowarren about 4 miles towards Helston as one of the best meals we have had this year 5*!

Tim & Tricia from Gloucestershire. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 31st August - 7th September 2008.

Despite the dire weather forecasts we had many fine days. The Lizard appears to have its own microclimate. Much enjoyed Cadgwith. The fish shop opens between 15.00hr and 18.00hr but does run out of stock so best to be early for the best selection. It was pleasant to have dinner "at home" each evening as the cottage is so comfortable and well appointed.

Rona & Tony from Dorset. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 7th - 14th September 2008.

We have been delighted by our first visit to Coverack, such a tranquil village, and have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the area. The cottage is superb, it is a joy to sit and watch the sea from all windows.

Garry and Claire from Hampshire. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 14th - 21st September 2008.

First stay in Coverack, very impressed, a pasty from Elizabeth a walk along the coastal path, cream tea at Roskilly's - a perfect day!

Kay & Stuart from Manchester. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 12th - 19th October 2008.

The "Little Ship" a truly perfect balance of charm, comfort and modernity. We have had the most blissful week "sailing" her - the only sadness, that we must now leave. And Coverack a magical place, complimented by real ale at The Paris, good food at The Bay Hotel, and stunning coastline all around.

The Hill Family from Oxford. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 26th October - 2nd November 2008.

A beautiful cottage in a wonderful village. Perfect views of the sea. Lovely walks. All together a memorable holiday.

Ron & Jacky from Modbury in Devon (The 1st Carrier Bag free town in the UK). Staying at Little Ship Cottage 10th - 13th December 2008.

The Coverack Christmas lights welcomed us for our short festive season break. Little Ship was quite superb and the weather was mild for this time of year, and there are many more superlatives we could use, but we are dashing down to "The Wave" for breakfast!

The Richards Family from Derby. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 28th December 2008 - 4th January 2009.

We have had another really great week here, thanks. Cottage looks lovely. We'll be back next year.

Scott, Rach, Lucy & Gemma from Buckingham. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 5th - 12th April 2009.

What a fantastic week - cottage great and we liked the nice touches - cakes, milk, dressing gowns etc. Rach is even saying she would return here again which is unheard of! Thanks Alison - really great place!

The Bradley family from Bath. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 12th - 19th April 2009.

Thank you for such a beautiful and cosy cottage; lovely coastal walks in both directions, although a bit muddy towards Lowland Point. We had fabulous dinners at "The Bay Hotel" and "The Greenhouse Restaurant" St. Keverne - both can't be recommended highly enough. Brilliant breakfasts at The Wave and don't forget Anne's Pasties at The Lizard.

The Fairburn famil from Surrey. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 25th April - 2nd May 2009.

We have had a really brilliant week (except for the lack of sunshine although we did manage a G&T on the beach in the sun one evening!). Ian spent his first 17 years of holidays here in Coverack and had not been back for 40 years! Done all the tourist bits and good dinner at The Bay Hotel where he stayed in the old days. Beautiful cottage in perfect position and so nicely presented. Particularly the hugh bathrobes! lots of long walks (not in the bath robes!) and good food. All very relaxing and very enjoyable x.

Mr & Mrs Barnes from Sussex. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 16th - 25th May 2009.

Very sad to be leaving the Little Ship today. We've had a wonderful week. The cottage is the nicest we've stayed at to date. Thank you for all you've done, from the excellent pack, to the touches such as flowers on the table and the wine for our anniversary! Thank you also for the recommendations. We went to Friday fish night at The Wave (excellent), dinner at The New Yard and lunch at South. All really good. Thank you for allowing us to stay at such a memorable place. We hope to return soon!

The Haslam family from Avon. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 24th - 31st May 2009.

A very relaxing week in The Little Ship - we're sorry to be leaving. Lovely weather and great windsurfing coutesy of Robin & Chris. What a friendly place! The cottage was delightful, everything we could have needed or could have wanted.

The Ellis family from Gloucestershire. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 1st - 6th June 2009.

A fabulous week's build up to our family wedding. Gorgeous weather and everything "just so" in the Little Ship with granny down the road in North Corner a perfect time was had by all.

Ann and Marissa from Plymouth. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 21st - 28th June 2009.

A beautiful weeks holiday in a beautiful cottage with great weather and no need to leave the village. We both loved watching the waves roll in whilst drinking tea sat in the front garden. We both had a wonderful holiday here and are sad to leave x.

Evelyn & Ingrid from Edinburgh and Switerland. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 5th - 19th July 2009.

A lovely place to stay for two families. Edinburgh meets Switzerland - and to spend two wonderful weeks with son and daughter and grandchildren next door but one. Cornwall is a heavenly place and Little Ship Cottage too!

The Brend family from Devon. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 19 - 26th July 2009.

We've had a fantastic week in Coverack and loved staying at Little Ship. The children loved Coverack beach but we also enjoyed the waves, rock pools and caves at Kynance Cove and also Porthcurno beach (recommend the Telegraph museum). We were lucky enough to be here for the Coverack carnival on Friday. Sadly we did'nt see any dolphins, but did see seals at Lowlands Point and Kynance Cove. The weather was always better than the forecast and played monopoly in the front garden in the evening sun watching the sea was a treat! Sad to leave, but sure we'll be back. Thank you!

The Sirman family from Kent. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 26th July - 9th August 2009.

Second stay in "Little Ship" and its as lovely as we remembered it - a really special cottage. Highlight of our holiday was swimming in the bay at Coverack with a seal! Than you once again for a perfect stay.

The Hale family from Bedfordshire. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 9th - 16th August 2009.

What can we say but perfect in everyway! The cottage location and views are stunning and the finish and soft furnishings in all rooms excellent especially the kitchen. Perfect holiday, lifeboat day, socialising with new friends in the harbour with wine, swimming, fishing and kyaking all favourite past times. Only visit out of Coverack was to St Ives on the hottest day beach, fish supper and shop till we drop. Good food at the lifeboat, BBQ & champagne breakfast with new friends in near cottage. Made so many new friends, we will be back regulars to Coverack now. Thanks.

Paul, Sue and Kelly from Northumberland. Staying at Little Ship Cottage from 16th - 30th August 2009.

Another great fortnight in Coverack. It is a special place wich we hope never changes. This is also one of the best cottages we've stayed in, so thank you. Highlights - snorkeling, rock climbing, body boarding, jumping off the harbour, fishing with Harold, and lots more. We'll be back!

The Sakol family from Cambridge. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 30th August - 4th September 2009.

Our first stay in Coverack and we loved it! Beautiful, comfortable cottage, gorgeous view and lovely meals out........would love to come back sometime!

Mr & Mrs Hicks from Herefordshire. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 6th - 13th September 2009.

A very relaxing week in Coverack. The cottage is wonderful - so comfy! The view across the bay is endlessly fascinating - watching surfers and waves. Brought fish every day at Cadgwith, Mullion Cove spectactular. Beach along the footpath just as we had remembered it 15 years ago.

Mr & Mrs Higgs from Northamptonshire. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 13th - 20th September 2009.

We first visited Little Ship in 2005, and what a transformation! It is now absolutely perfect. Have had our best ever week of weather in Coverack and will be looking forward to returning in 2010. Must recommend the evening meals at The Bay and the Friday night fish night at The Wave Cafe and not forgetting one of Elizabeth's pies!

Kay, Anne and Ken from Somerset. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 20th September - 4th October 2009.

We have fallen in love with Little Ship Cottage. Everything is just perfect and we look forward to our return next year. Thank you.

Garry and Clare from Hampshire. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 4th - 11th October 2009.

Back for a second visit here at Little Ship. Absolutely love it here, Coverack is one of our favourite places!

Mr & Mrs Alford from the West Midlands. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 11th - 18th October 2009.

We 'thank you' again for an amazing week. We had incredible weather and enjoyed the seals and sunsets over Kynance Cove. We'll be back again soon.

Mr & Mrs Warner from Kent. Staying at Little Ship. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 18th - 25th October 2009.

After three visits at 'The Minstrel' Cottage you have certainly excelled with Little Ship. On a breezy week the cottage was warm and cosy. Helen and I once again walked to Lowland Point and up to St. Keverne and it was nice to come home here to a hot bath. We both love Coverack and will most certainly come back, but now we have the dilemma of which cottage to choose. Eeny meany........

Liz, Kevin, Finn & Caitlin. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 25th October - 1st November 2009.

Thank you for giving us such a fabulous holiday. A lovely cottage in a lovely place - a great retreat from everyday stresses! We came to stay here on the recommendation of friends but even so it supassed our expectations. We're already planning a return visit.

Adam & Vicky. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 24th - 27th November 2009.

Well, what can we say that hasn't already been said! After our seven hour journey it was nice to be greeted by Little Ship Cottage and a cream tea! It is obvious that alot of time and effort has been spent lovingly restoring the cottage and the attention to detail is remarkable. This is our first visit to Coverack and will definitely be returning. In our short stay we managed to fit in Lizard Point, The Maritaime Museum, Seal Sanctuary and Lands End and enjoyed lovely pub tea at The White Hart in St. Keverne. See you next year!

The Armstrong family. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 3rd - 6th December 2009.

This was our first visit to Coverack to celebrate a christening. We have had a wonderful time. The Little Ship Cottage has been perfect. Everything has been thought of and the attention to detail and beautiful decor makes this the loveliest cottage we have stayed in. To arrive to mince pies and a Christmas tree was fantastic. Our 3 year old was thrilled. The Coverack Christmas lights and Santa's visit on his sleigh was a real highlight. We are very keen to book again for next year and are planning a Summer visit. Thank you so much and we will definately be back.

Thida & Sebastian. Staying at Little Ship Cottage 24th December 2009 - 1st January 2010.

This was a wonderlful Christmas Week in Coverack, in the sleepy cottage. The Little Ship has great character and the sea gulls are very friendly! We can't wait to come back and discover more of this dramatic place.

Hiliary, Nick & Leylah. Staying at Little Ship 18th - 23rd February 2010.

Just perfect, beautifully appointed 'home from home'. The bay, the harbour, the coastal paths all exceeded expectations. Coverack is a magical place & Little Ship the perfect sanctuary.
